Your message is physical, personal and written in your own handwriting.

You seal the letter yourself, send it to EverSealed and we preserve it until the selected future delivery period or date is reached.

EverSealed is not a digital messaging service. Your original handwritten letter is the message that will be delivered.

What Is a Time Capsule Letter?

A Time Capsule Letter is a handwritten message created now for a moment that has not yet arrived.

You may want to write:

to your future self;
to your child;
to your partner;
to a family member;
to a close friend;
for a future birthday;
for an anniversary;
for a graduation;
for another important milestone.

The idea is simple:

write the words now, while they reflect how you feel today, and preserve them until the future moment you have chosen.

1-Year Time Capsule

A one-year Time Capsule is ideal for a message you want someone to receive in the near future.

It may be connected to:

a birthday;
an anniversary;
a personal goal;
a family milestone;
or simply something you want to say today and have read one year from now.

3-Year Time Capsule

Three years can bring significant changes.

A 3-Year Time Capsule can be used to preserve your thoughts, feelings or advice for a future stage of life.

It may be particularly meaningful for children, family members or your future self.

5-Year Time Capsule

Five years gives your message time to become something very different from an ordinary letter.

You may want to preserve how you feel today for an important future milestone or leave words for someone to receive at a later stage of their life.

10-Year Time Capsule

A decade can transform lives.

A 10-Year Time Capsule is designed for deeply meaningful messages intended to remain preserved for many years before being delivered.

Your recipient receives the words you wrote ten years earlier, exactly from that moment in your life.

Custom Future Date

Some letters are meant for one particular day.

With the Custom Future Date option, you choose the intended future delivery date when placing your order.

This could be:

a birthday;
an anniversary;
a graduation;
a wedding anniversary;
a family celebration;
or another personally meaningful date.

How It Works

Step 1 – Choose Your Time Capsule

Select:

1 Year, 3 Years, 5 Years, 10 Years or Custom Future Date.

Choose according to when you want the letter to be delivered.

Step 2 – Place Your Order

Complete your Time Capsule order and provide the required future delivery information.

Your order will have an EverSealed order or reference number.

Please keep this number safely, as it helps us identify your stored letter if you need to contact us in the future.

Step 3 – Write Your Letter

Write your message privately.

You can use your own suitable paper and envelope, or purchase an EverSealed Writing Kit separately if you would like premium letter-writing materials.

Take as much time as you need.

There is no required format and EverSealed does not need to know what you have written.

Step 4 – Seal Your Letter

When you are happy with your message, place it inside the envelope and seal it securely.

Write the recipient’s full name and your EverSealed order number clearly on the outside of the sealed letter envelope. You do not need to write the recipient’s postal address on it.

EverSealed does not routinely open or read your letter.

Step 5 – Send Your Letter to EverSealed

Write the recipient’s full name and Order number: [your EverSealed order number] on the outside of the sealed letter envelope. The recipient’s postal address is provided with your order; it does not need to be written on that envelope. Put the sealed letter envelope inside a second, outer postal envelope, address it as shown below, write your EverSealed order number on the outside of the outer envelope and arrange the postage. Keep proof of posting.

Post your completed Time Capsule letter to:

Write this address on the outer postal envelope.

When it arrives, EverSealed records the letter under the relevant order or reference information.

It is then placed into secure preservation for the applicable period.

Step 6 – Your Time Capsule Period

For fixed-term Time Capsules:

1 Year
3 Years
5 Years
10 Years

the selected period begins on the date you place your order. For example, a 5-Year Time Capsule purchased today reaches its five-year point five years from today, even if the letter arrives later. Physical storage starts when we receive and register your sealed letter. Please post it promptly: posting late does not extend the scheduled date.

For a Custom Future Date, the future date selected when placing the order determines when the delivery process begins.

Step 7 – Keep Your Delivery Details Up to Date

A lot can change over several years.

The recipient may move house.

Their email address or telephone number may change.

If important delivery information changes, contact EverSealed and provide your order or reference number.

We will update the information connected with the stored letter.

When your Time Capsule becomes due for delivery, we use the most recent valid recipient information held for your order.

Step 8 – The Future Date Arrives

When the selected storage period or Custom Future Date is reached, EverSealed begins preparing your sealed letter for delivery.

The original handwritten letter is dispatched using the applicable delivery process and the most recent valid recipient information available.

The recipient receives the message you wrote years earlier.

No Legacy Verification Required

Time Capsule Letters are based on time or a future date.

They do not require:

death verification;
Legacy verification contacts; or
a Legacy release process.

This is one of the main differences between a Time Capsule Letter and a Legacy Letter.

A Time Capsule is released because the selected future time has arrived.

A Legacy Letter is released only after the relevant future verification process has been completed.

No Monthly Subscription

Time Capsule Letters do not require the ongoing monthly preservation subscription used for the EverSealed Legacy Letter Service.

The applicable preservation period is included in the Time Capsule option you purchase.

You do not need to maintain a monthly Legacy preservation subscription for a standard Time Capsule Letter.

Your Letter Remains Private

Your Time Capsule Letter remains sealed during normal storage and handling.

EverSealed does not routinely:

open your letter;
read your message;
review its contents; or
alter what you have written.

The stored letter is connected to your EverSealed order or reference number and handled as private correspondence.

Can I Update the Delivery Address?

Yes.

This is particularly important for longer Time Capsules.

If the recipient's address or important contact details change, contact EverSealed as early as possible.

Please provide:

your EverSealed order or reference number;
the relevant recipient details; and
the new delivery information.

We will update the information associated with the stored letter.

What If the Address Is No Longer Valid?

If a Time Capsule reaches its future delivery date and the delivery information held is incomplete or no longer valid, EverSealed may delay dispatch while reasonable attempts are made to obtain updated information.

An address problem does not convert a Time Capsule into a Legacy Letter and does not create a requirement for death verification.

This is why we recommend keeping future delivery details up to date during the storage period.

Can I Change My Mind?

Circumstances can change.

Before your Time Capsule becomes due for dispatch, you may contact EverSealed regarding:

a recipient detail change;
a future delivery address update;
a request to return the stored letter;
a request to replace the stored letter; or
cancellation where permitted under the applicable service terms.

Handling, return or delivery charges may apply depending on the request.

Please contact EverSealed Support with your order or reference number so that we can explain the appropriate process.

Time Capsule or Legacy Letter?

Choose a Time Capsule Letter when you know when you want your message delivered.

For example:

“I want my daughter to receive this in five years.”

“I want this delivered on our anniversary.”

“I want to write something for my future self to read in ten years.”

Choose a Legacy Letter when you want your words preserved for future delivery after your passing has been appropriately verified.

The difference is simple:

Time Capsule = future date

Legacy Letter = future verification
