School & Class Memories

A little inspiration for a meaningful letter

Capture this chapter before it changes

School days are full of small moments that can become big memories: favourite teachers, unexpected friendships, classroom jokes and hopes for what comes after GCSEs or sixth form. Write down what a normal school day looks like, who makes you laugh, what you dream of doing next and whether you think you will all still be friends when you read the letters again.

A sentence to get you started

Dear future me, here are the people, moments and plans I want to remember from school…

How to write your letter

You do not need to be a confident writer. A few honest sentences can be enough. Use these steps as a gentle guide and leave out anything that does not feel right.

  1. Begin with a name and today's date. Use the greeting you would naturally say to this person, or to your future self.
  2. Say why you are writing. Tell them what made you want to keep these words.
  3. Bring one memory to life. Describe a place, a conversation or a small detail that matters to you.
  4. Share what you want them to know. Write about your feelings, gratitude or hopes. Add a little humour if it feels natural.
  5. Finish in your own way. Add a wish, a few loving words or a familiar sign-off, then sign your name.

Questions to help the words flow

Choose two or three. These are starting points, not a checklist.

  • What does a normal school day look like, from the journey in to the final bell?
  • Who makes you laugh, and which moment sums up your class?
  • Which teacher, lesson or school trip will you remember most?
  • What are your favourite songs, expressions and trends right now?
  • What are you excited or nervous about after leaving school?
  • Where do you imagine yourself in five or ten years?
  • Who will be early to the reunion, who will be late, and who will still be asking for a pen?

More ways to begin

  • Dear future me, right now our class is best known for…
  • If I could keep one school day exactly as it is, it would be…
  • Our official prediction for the reunion is…

A short example to make your own

Dear future me, at the moment I am certain I know what I want to do after school. I wonder whether you will agree. I hope you remember the people who made difficult days easier, and that lunch break when none of us could stop laughing. My prediction is that somebody will arrive at the reunion claiming they have not changed at all. Please remember to bring a pen. Apparently that is still our biggest challenge.

Try a prediction round: everyone writes one hope for themselves and one kind, funny prediction for the group. Avoid embarrassing secrets or jokes at someone else's expense; nobody has to share a private letter.

Your letter can be short or long. Read it once, add anything you have missed, and let it sound like you.

Save your letter for the future

Write one shared letter, or let each person seal their own letter and put them together in one outer envelope. Each person can keep their letter private. EverSealed stores the letters sealed without reading them.

With the school’s agreement, select School class and enter the school, class, leaving year and contact details. Choose a date before your prom or reunion and allow postal time. The capsule returns to one school address. Agree the gathering with the school; it can take place after the letters arrive, even if the original teacher has left.
